Pool Training The pool training sessions will start on Monday, 6th October 2008 at 8:00pm. Training nights are held between October and May on Mondays from 8.00pm till 10.00pm, in the Galleon Centre, 99 Titchfield Street, Kilmarnock,(01563 524014). All training is at the individual's own pace. Before starting to train with an aqualung we do ask that you take a swimming assessment and sign a medical certificate - all this will be explained in detail on your first night. Trainees must be at least 15 years or older. Like most sports, Scuba Diving requires some equipment but KSAC can provide all the necessary gear for the pool training, however it is best if you buy a mask & snorkel early on. As you progress you can add to this basic equipment on a gradual basis. New trainees are encouraged to visit the club for a couple of weeks
before joining. | ||

Sea Training Once you have mastered the basics in the pool, there is the opportunity to continue your training in the sea. Club dives usually take place on Sundays throughout the year, some of which are specifically for trainees. Occasionally the club will run training dives on a Saturday. As the water temperature in the West of Scotland is not quite as
high as the Med' a dry-suit is recommended. One can usually be hired or
borrowed for your first couple of dives, but after that, when the bug has
truly bitten, you will need to buy your own. | ||
